Within the mind alice winters5/10/2023 it is an easy listening, much laughing out loud and some few nerve-wracking moents. Happy ListeningĪs always with this author, this was a great book. And why not? I absolutely recommend this audiobook, it is one of those unforgettables, you will want to hear now and then to lift your mood. That meant open season, and anything goes. The best part in the book was how the characters communicated when they lost the ability to feel guilt or remorse. Hence, the coffee flying back up through my nasal cavities, ripping a new deviated septum. Not, only because of the wisecrack dialogues, but the world and character development was done thoroughly, I could visualize it all. Had to pause the flippen audiobook to get home in one piece. You know how dangerous that is? I couldn’t keep my eyes open while I laughed. These two characters took me on a side splitting, coffee spewing through the nose, drive home from work. Seneca and Chevy is a pair of witty gifted agents, called in to assist a man recover his identity by going into his memories. Just add a little syrup and anything goes! Joel’s ability to pull a person into the story and hold your attention, testifies about his growing success, earning him narrator of the year award. This narrator and author duo fits like pancakes and bananas. Joel brought all his playful tricks to the party to give amusing a whole new meaning. 5 Blue Roses 3.5 to 4 Blue Flames Narrator Joel Leslie delivered the highly entertaining and ridiculously funny escapades about two gifted men who are on a mission to save mankind.

Glass town isabel greenberg5/10/2023 It's strange how moving these images are.' - Claire Harman, Evening Standard, Book of the Week Greenberg is impressively well-informed about the Brontes, but handles her facts lightly, allowing full power to the beautiful and sensitive images. 'The weird and wonderful world of the Brontes is brought to life in beautiful, blazing colour. It is also another reminder that Greenberg is one of the most singular and imaginative graphic novelists we have.' - Teddy Jamieson, Herald Scotland And mortality and immortality, for that matter. is a wonderfully moving exploration of the line between creator and creation. They made their world for the sheer pleasure of making, and that pleasure radiates off Greenberg's pages too.' - Samantha Ellis, Daily Telegraph Glass Town works so well because while the Brontes' own story is absolutely devastating, the Glass Town scenes are full of fun. Isabel Greenberg has done something extraordinary. 'A brilliant, bonkers tribute to the Brontes. If it's a fantastic comic - and I think that it is - then it's also one of the best books about the Brontes' juvenilia ever written.' - Rachel Cooke, Observer A feat of narrative concision that is by turns dreamy, and gritty.

If the demigods don’t succeed, Gaea’s armies will never die. But, Leo wonders, if the Doors are sealed, how will Percy and Annabeth be able to escape? They have no choice. If they can fight their way through Gaea’s forces, and Percy and Annabeth can survive the House of Hades, then the Seven will be able to seal the Doors from both sides and prevent the giants from raising Gaea. The other five demigods have to put aside their grief and follow Percy’s instructions to find the mortal side of the Doors of Death. At the conclusion of The Mark of Athena, Annabeth and Percy tumble into a pit leading straight to the Underworld. The bridge of luis rey5/10/2023 The attempts of various characters to overcome this sense of meaninglessness and build satisfactory lives through art, altruism, and love, is the defining triumph of the novel. However, in a single moment, the bridge transforms from a symbol of a constancy to one of tragedy after the collapse, people cross themselves when they think about the bridge and imagine “themselves falling into a gulf.” After the collapse, the bridge represents the constant potential for calamity that undergirds daily life, and the meaninglessness that life seems to acquire if senseless death is only ever a second away. To the citizens of Lima, Peru, “the bridge seemed to be among the things that last forever” it has a grounding and stabilizing influence on the city. Bully penelope douglas summary5/9/2023 You were the person that turned things right again. My world felt so insecure, and I was scared. She had cancer, and I lost her before I really knew her. Being your sidekick gave me a sense of home again. We played hide and seek, you’d push me on the swing, or we’d climb trees. We’d play all day, only coming back for food and sleep. I remember I’d shovel in my breakfast as fast as I could, so I could go knock on your door. You were a tempest in the sun, the thunder in a boring, cloudless sky. You made me giddy with expectation, just like a symphonic rainstorm. On sunny days, as a girl, I could still wake up to that thrilled feeling. I used to feel like a superhero, riding my bike over the dangerously slick roads, or maybe an Olympic athlete enduring rough trials to make it to the finish line. But it’s like this whole other realm of opportunity. Everything is more beautiful in the rain. When the clouds roll in, I get filled with this giddy expectation. Thunder torrential rain, puddles, wet shoes.

Duplicity by Matilda Martel5/9/2023 Acts of violence are perpetrated on secondary characters- none to the FMC. This is a MFM dark age gap taboo romance with high heat and shades of dubious consent. He makes me the queen of his world, makes me fall in love, then reveals the biggest secret of all. I should be terrified, but the man of secrets makes me feel funny things. I've made a deal with the devil and leapt from the frying pan into the fire. I have nothing to offer but myself, but something about the look in his eyes and the tight clench of his chiseled jaw tells me he won't say no. Moments before my dreams die, I rush to his aid. Behind the mask, he's the most dangerous man in New York. On the surface, he's a wealthy real estate tycoon, respected by politicians and the city's elite. They say a wolf will chew off its foot to escape a trap, and that's precisely what I do when I flee into the arms of my father's greatest enemy. With a handshake and a signature, my dreams will die, and a new nightmare will begin. Like any mafia princess, I'm expected to stay silent, submit, and make my family proud. It's the day he's waited for-the day he sells my hand to the highest bidder. Until the eve of my twentieth birthday, when I learn my future holds more misery than my past. While he schemes, he keeps me locked away, protected, isolated, and hidden from his violent world. I'm penniless, powerless, and frequently reminded that I'm nothing more than property to barter amongst his powerful friends. I've spent my life in a cage designed by my father- at his mercy and whim.
